Darwin
Freespirit Resort
13th April - 1st May 2010
Day 115 to 133

We headed out of Kakadu really excited to be stopping somewhere for more than a couple of days or a week. Wayne had luck finding good work after a whole 3 hours of looking. He started working 2 days after arriving here.

The kids and I filled our days with school work, bike riding, playing on the gigantic jumping pillow, playing with other travelling families, catching the bus into Palmerston (some interesting stories to tell about those experiences) library for singing and storytime or to the shops or to the Leanyer waterpark. Wayne would meet us at the pool most arvos after work - what a life!

Wayne, Blake and Amber went to the Dawn Service in Darwin, very special and sombre as it was held close to where part of Darwin was bombed in WWII.

We were really lucky to have Pete and Bez, (Manda's parents) come up and spend a few days with us. The kids loved seeing Nan and Pop and would head down to their cabin bright and early to "see if they were awake!" We did a bit of sightseeing with them, visited the amazing Military Museum and hand fed fish at Doctor's Gully. We had lots of fun catching waves at the wave pool and Wayne and I even snuck in a dinner out together - that was a treat. You do get used to being with each other 24/7, but was fantastic to have a break.

Darcy and Eamon successfully passed toilet training here and have given up night nappies too -saving us more than $30 a week! Darcy decided that he wanted to lose his very cute floppy hair and gave himself a trim, or mullet more like it. See below for a shot after his professional correctional haircut still gorgeous though.

Darwin has introduced a weird rule, that you can't stay for more than 28 nights in a van park. Some parks ignore this rule, unfortunately the one we were staying in didn't, so we have to find a new spot to camp ourselves until we are done in Darwin.
